Job Description The Center for Research and Exploration in Space Sciences and Technology (CRESST) seeks a Business Manager to be responsible for carrying out the financial requirements associated with the CRESST Program Office. This position will serve as a central resource to all three partner institutions. Specific duties include: tracking monthly CRESST expenditures; preparing consolidated quarterly financial reports and annual budgets/projections; tracking scientific proposal submissions and results; assisting CRESST scientists and working with NASA and CRESST financial contacts to generate proposal budgets; analyzing variances between budgets and actuals; overseeing the acquisition control and tracking of Government furnished equipment; preparing ad-hoc detailed expense reports and forecasts upon request; and performing other duties as assigned.

The Center for Research and Exploration in Space Sciences and Technology (CRESST) is a consortium of three local institutions (UMBC, UMCP, and USRA) with a cooperative agreement with NASA’s Goddard Space and Flight Center (GSFC). Position reports directly to the CRESST Program Manager and indirectly to the CRESST Director and the UMBC Associate Director.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field and at least three years experience in finance and accounting. Experience with a Federal Government contract environment, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis, and Microsoft Excel will be viewed as desirable. Must have strong attention to detail.

Starting salary range mid 50’s to mid 60’s, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position is full-time and includes full University benefits package. This is a grant-funded position wherein employment is contingent upon the renewal of the grant and carries no layoff or reinstatement rights.
