CSST Budget Template
In order to aide the budget certification process within UMBC, the following spreadsheet should be
used for all proposals (unless instructed otherwise). Note this spreadsheet is for
Internal UMBC use only. It should not be submitted to the Funding Agency, nor distributed
to co-Is etc without prior approval.

The spreadsheet is designed to be fairly multi-purpose, and contains self-populating cells.
Thus for Labor Costs,
in many cases the Scientist simply has to fill a salary for each person and the FTE
(Full Time Equivalent) work each person will be performing on the project, and the spreadsheet
will estimate the benefits etc.
Most of the Other Direct Costs fields are also straightforward.
However Scientists intending to include Sub-Contracts to be issued by UMBC, and/or
Consulting Fees, and/or Equipment over 5K should confer with the CSST Office to insure
the spreadsheet is completed correctly.
