Suitably-qualified graduates can specialize in one of several areas of astronomy or astrophysics under the Applied Physics Ph.D. Program at UMBC.

The students are advised by a member of the Regular Physics Faculty, the CRESST Reseach Faculty, other JCA Research Faculty, and/or other PhD astronomers working at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

In addition to their Thesis research, students must of course satisfy all the requirements of the UMBC Graduate School, the Applied Physics Ph.D. Program, along with a number of other expectations & requirements.
