Research & Employment Oppportunities

Research Opportunities

At the discretion of a Faculty Mentor, occasional opportunities exist for a suitably-qualified student to take PHYS450 "Special Topics" [1-4 credits] and/or PHYS499 "Senior Research" [3 credits]. Interested students should contact the relevant Faculty member.

Summer Internships

There are two routes to a Summer Internship in Astrophysics and Space Science at UMBC: While there are small logistical differences between the programs, either route provides well-qualified students with a 10-12 week research project in the range of astronomy, astrophysics & space science underway within the UMBC Physics Dept, and/or underway within the UMBC's Center for Space Science & Tecnology as part of its collaboration with the CRESST consortium and the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
