Aligning the Dome
Four simple steps: turn off dome tracking, align the dome with the telescope, reset the position
that the TCS thinks the dome is at, and turn dome tracking back on.
You should make sure the telescope is aligned properly, first!
Plesae see Aligning the telescope for the procedure.
In greater detail the steps are as follows:
- On the TCS panel,
set [AUTO DOME] off (down)
- On the TCS panel,
set [DOME TRACK] on (up) (it is
likely already there)
- In the dome, use the Handpaddle to
align the telescope with the dome.
You can move either the telescope or the dome. Doesn't really matter. But don't align
them near the zenith, since that does not have a unique azimuth.
- On the TCS console
- Select 1. Initialization Menu
- Select 3. Set dome position
- Enter either 0 or the telescope azimuth,
which can be read from the display, just above the centre.
- Reply no to the query: any changes?
- Check that the telescope azimuth and dome azimuth are the same,
as displayed on the console.
- On the TCS panel,
set [AUTO DOME] on (up)
