Shutting Down

  1. Turn off tracking
  2. Park the dome
  3. Replace the Shower Cap and Finder Scope Cover
  4. Secure the outside door, if it was opened.
  5. Turn off the venting fan, if it was turned on, by rotating the thermostat clockwise.
  6. Turn of the CCD Power Strip, located on the North side of the telescope itself.
  7. Turn off the dome lights.
  8. Exit the Dome, closing the firedoor as you exit.
  9. Close the mirror doors
  10. Close the dome doors
  11. Put the telescope in the Home Position
  12. When the telescope has stopped slewing (about 30 s. The TCS quietly beeps when it is done), turn the drives off.
  13. At this point, all toggle switches on the TCS panel on the top row should be down except [TRACK/TRACK AUX] which should be up and [EXCOM] which may be up or down, and the [HALT MOTORS] button should be pushed in.
  14. Log out of the ICC (aka telescope2)
  15. Do not turn the computers off! The ICC computer MUST be left on, as it is part of the JCA Linux Network. The TCS computer and console should remain on for ease of use.
  16. Turn off all the monitors, lights.
  17. Lock the Door and Go Home.
