  UMBC Astrophysics: The Astronomy Minor

The Astronomy Minor (20 credit minimum)

The courses comprising the astronomy minor are listed below, the number in parentheses denotes the number of credits for that course:
PHYS 121(4), PHYS 122(4)
PHYS 304(3)

Following completion of these three, students should select any three of the following:
PHYS 305(3),PHYS 315(3), PHYS 316(3), PHYS 415(4), PHYS 425(3)
giving 20 or more credits, as required to complete the minor.

Pre-requisites applying to students taking the astronomy minor: PHYS 121, PHYS 122, PHYS 304 are pre-requisites for PHYS 315, PHYS 316, PHYS 415, PHYS 425.

PHYS 122 requires PHYS 121
PHYS 304 requires PHYS 121, 122
PHYS 305 requires PHYS 121, 122, 304
PHYS 315 requires PHYS 121, 122, 304
PHYS 316 requires PHYS 121, 122, 304
PHYS 415 requires PHYS 121, 122, 304, 305, 315, 316
PHYS 425 requires PHYS 121, 122, 304, 321, 324

For students not enrolled in the minor, it is highly recommended that PHYS 304 be taken before 315, PHYS 316, PHYS 415, PHYS 425, but this is not currently a formal pre-requisite.
